BOURBON INDUSTRY LEGEND EDDIE RUSSELL TO HOST THAILAND’S FIRST EXCLUSIVE SESSION ON 5 FEBRUARY 2018
It is no secret that Bourbon, a whiskey that can only be produced in the United States, is America’s favourite spirits. Uncompromising since 1855, Wild Turkey has established itself as a truly iconic American brand, with its distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky attracting whiskey aficionados and industry veterans from all over the world.
On 5 February, Eddie Russell, Wild Turkey Bourbon Master Distiller and a Kentucky Bourbon Hall-of-Famer, will fly to Bangkok, Thailand to host a one-day-exclusive showcase of Wild Turkey Bourbon’s distilling, aging and production processes. A trailblazer and noted legend in the industry, Eddie is the son of Wild Turkey Bourbon Master Distiller, Jimmy Russell and brings the time honoured American culture of drinking Bourbon to Thailand.
Road to Wild Turkey with Master Distiller Eddie Russell
In 1981, Eddie Russell joined Wild Turkey and followed in his father’s (and grandfather’s) footsteps by starting out at the bottom as a relief operator. Putting in decades of toil and study, Eddie represented the next generation of distillers that appeal to the tastes of the growing international market and a new, younger generation of Bourbon lovers. Together, Eddie and his father carry almost 100 years of combined experience in Bourbon making, and both have collaborated in the making of award-winning Bourbons including Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Old in 1998, Wild Turkey 81 in 2009, and most recently, Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary, a once-in-a-lifetime blend of 13- and 16- year old whiskies for Jimmy’s 60th anniversary at Wild Turkey Distillery.
On 5 February, Eddie will share the story behind his legendary craftsmanship for the first time in Thailand with bar professionals, media and Bourbon enthusiasts. Leading you through the Bourbon history, development of American Whiskey and followed with a guided tasting of the Wild Turkey Kentucky Bourbon range.
The second session will focus on Bourbon classic cocktails and variations of the new creation recipes from the guest bartenders at the after class party.
